Dear all, We've got just over a week until Madisons and we are really looking forward to having a great night once again. As you know, the three of us put Madisons back together again to give everyone the chance to relive our youth and have a great laugh! For the past three years, we've had a blast organising these nights and meeting up with so many old friends and making many new ones along the way. Max, Susan and myself always want to give Madisons 110%, and our effort along with all of you who have supported us and spread the word, has created what we all know is a brilliant night out, rekindled friendships and apparently resulted in a wedding! As many of you know, we don't do this for a living - this is a hobby! Since the first reunion in 2003, our individual personal circumstances have changed and therefore after much chat, the three of us have taken the decision that we will not be organising another Madisons after this one for at least another two or three years...if at all…no matter what we announce at 2.30am on the 10th! So unless your spandex and cowboy boots can stand being in the back of the wardrobe for an indefinite time, please join us on a week on Saturday to say goodbye to Madisons! Yours rawkingly Julie, Max & Susan

OK. I've not managed to get to the previous reunions - having to go to Florida and stuff - but from what I've heard it is one of the best nights of the year. I know that the organisers put a lot of work into this night - promoting the night at gigs, clubs, pubs, hell they were even promoting it at the Vampires Rock show and traveling out to places like the Dreadnought.
This type of promotion takes a lot of effort, so please, no matter how drunk you get or how much of a good time your having don't badger them into organising another one. If you have to say anything tell them how much you have appreciated their efforts to give you all a night to look forward to.
All things come to an end, especially the good ones and three is a good number to finish on.
If you think it should continue, don't tell the current organisers, get off your ass and organise it yourself. If not, don't expect others to keep making the commitment.
Enjoy the last reunion and make sure that the organisers enjoy it to.

Hmmm..a Stones re-union? That would be ok but let's face it it didn't have the same vibe....there was some excellent new stuff after the Madisons period but as long as they left out the Grungie crap! The scene was becoming a bit split up by then! It would be like Maddies but smaller! Oh! by the way Organisers...oor mate Cussy still hasn't got a ticket despite people offering to get him one. He insists he'll get it himself, although I don't think there will be much chance of spotting a Maddies-promo Pink & Black tee-shirt in his hang-outs But just in case.....you can always find him in the Artful Dodger in the Sighthill Centre or failing that (shock! horror!) you'll get him across the Calder Road in Crofters! Cussy if you're reading this, get your wallet oot! Milly

Hey Milly, Didn't you slag somebody off about doing that. I think you said they shouldn't be using the boards if I remember right.

A big thanks must go out to the ´current´organisers of the Madisons reunions, they have done a great job and if they don´t want to keep going then perhaps someone else will pick up the baton. I personally don´t think it needs to be as purist as it has been and it may be possible to bring it up to date by being VERY selective with newer material and even having a playlist completely made up with requests from the board,i feel if possible we could get a band like FMR to play as they do lot of suitable covers,it was the music and the moment in time that made Maddies so great. I reckon for example Keith and I could pick it up and take it forward, how about a Madisons v Mission Night? Technology as it is nowadays I could have the entire set down on an mp3 DJ program,or just mix it live on the night, guaranteed to be all the top requested tunes mixed and kicking arse! That would surely please everyone ... just about .... It wouldn´t be too difficult for me to have real headbanging stuff for say two or three in a row then some glam then some Grunge etc, that´s what i used to do anyway at The Mission,i had to play newer stuff as I felt that a club like The Mission had to keep up to date as it was a younger crowd with the hardcore older rockers in the corner,it would be great hearing all that mixed up with the top Madisons requests. I reckon Keith could source a suitable venue, and with the main board contributers sending in CDR´s of stuff it would be THE best music night ... anyway, that´s my thoughts ... Once again thanks to the current Maddies organisers, great job.

Once again thanks to the current Maddies organisers, great job. I think the essence of the Madisions night is that it is just what it says, a Madisons Reunion night. Its a chance to catch up, listen to great tunes etc. Its all about nostalgia some of us want a night of reminiscing about the Madisons era. If you want to do what you say in your message then you should have a Mission night or create a new rock night even if it is just an annual one or every so often (appreciate you are in Spain). I am always up for a rock night, even one with modern tunes (shock!) but I dont think you should tarnish the name and spirit of these Madisons night. Lets keep the name special and hopefully look forward to another one in a few years. In the meantime perhaps there is an alternative rock night out there?

Billy, You do what you want to organise a rock night. Most of us will definitely be up for it, and by the way your posting doesn't appear to be 'tarnishing' Maddies...far from it! It'll be hard work orginising something like Maddies....hats off to the organisers for their great achievements. However all this talk of 'new' technology with CDR's & mp3's brings to mind some sort of futuristic Maddies with everyone dressed in silver catsuits (god forbid!), sipping on fluorescent vitamin drinks and purchasing shots of Botox at the bar....some are probably hoping this is on sale next Saturday.
Anyway are you going to Maddies?

Just a wee thought! If another rock night is to get any further than these pages then there's no way you could associate it with the Mission. In case we forget that namesake is still in it's crappy little existence at Calton Road but thankfully it's days are numbered as Studio 24 is closing down. God, you could set your watch against the token METAL they played in there! Incidently a couple of folk I know bumped into the long serving DJ of the Mission at a gig recently and he remarked that he hadn't seen them there for ages. Their reply was that the "music was crap" and wait for this...................HE AGREED I rest my case! Milly

There is a new rock night out there,it's The Doghouse,at the Subway cowgate. Playlist ranges from 80's glam metal to classic rock and a bit of early punk. All drinks are a pound, and free entry. ;D It's on this sunday,so anyone who fancies a practise session before next saturday should head down from 11-3
