Aye that's ok St.Christopher we all love a bit of banter. I wasn't gettin humpty at you it was more 'couple of things' that was gettin' right on my thr'penny bits. Well, you have to have a go at someone! In amongst all this spraffing I would just like to say that in my late thirties I'm enjoying Rocking out more than I did in my late twenties. I play in a band that I'm very proud of and love every minute of it! We'd all like to be 21 again but after the age of 30 you just don't give a toss. Who cares what club you like! You'll defend your decision to the hilt! Billy mentioned some time ago that the years around 95-98 were particularly difficult for Rock & Metal and he was right. That was a crap time and it remained that way for years. Things however a better now there are some great European bands out there and some of that amusingly titled 'New Wave of American Heavy Metal' is excellent too! Remember around that time when Kerrang or Kerrap as it's known now slagged of everything remotely connected to the 80's. Most of the bands in fact that sold the mag in the first place! That's why it amuses me when I have free read of it at my newsagent (never buy it!) when they give Priest 5 out of 5 for their recent gig but the best one was about 6 months ago their album of the month was....wait for this......The Best of Cinderella! "Jesus" I cried out in shock in RS MaColls as I teetered back on my stiletto cowboy boots and fell fanny up into the Scampi Fries in my over-stretched RATT 'Out of the cellar' tour '84 t-shirt. Who says Rock doesn't move in mysterious full circles? Even old OZZY's had his cumuppence these days. He had it easy playing Ozzfest by surrounding himself with far inferior bands 20-30 years his junior but recently fell out with Iron Maiden.....they must have been kicking his ass every night on that tour! Imagine trying to follow them! That's how mad the double 'O' and X-Factor Shaz have become these days! If they didn't see the droves of 'younger' metallers leaving Milton Keynes Bowl after Slipknot prior to Sabbath's set in 2001 then I certainly did! Maiden, although gettin' on a bit must be the biggest metal band on the planet just now. Even Metallica have retreated to their gold mansions probably with a psychologist to find out where they went wrong on that last album full of tuneless whingeing and the most annoying snare drum in the world ever that goes 'dank, dank, dank, dank-de dank, in every track! Some kind of monster it certainly is and the only St.Anger I have is that is cost me £13.99. Anyway as long as I'm mobile and can get out the house I'll always play gigs, attend gigs and drink with like-minded Rockers and of course always voice my opinion! and long may it continue. You never know what's round the corner but life's far too bloody short to ponder over it. Roll on Saturday! See you all there Milly 'Auld as the hills and reekin' of pish' FMR

It looks like for once, I'm going to be in the minority age group in a club! but would like to say thanks to the organisers for giving us newbies a chance to see what might have been. *sigh*

21? And yer into eighties glam/hair/metal type rock music. Excellent. Pity you missed the eighties rock scene though. It was great. Gorgeous girls at clubs (like you only ever seen on rock videos) Every guy believing they were a rock god and the gigs - seeing the bands in their prime and at the top of their popularity.
It wasn't that unusual to see two, three, sometimes four big bands a month. With their OTT stage shows - Dio's dragon, knight and castle, Vince Neil's Dirty Habits, Kiss' tank, Maiden's pyramids, Twisted Sister's back alley (erm... there's probably a better way of putting that), Alice Cooper's frankenstein's monster and magic screen,
We didn't so much go to a gig as SWARM to a gig. And it was all denim and leather too - none of yer combats or backward baseball caps. And band T-shirts, yeah, T-SHIRTS, none of yer fancy American Dragonfly micro-fibre shirts - Creatures of the night indeed!. Oh, and the denims had band patches (or an embroidered logo)
Plus there was all the rock clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow AND a lot of places in between. And the Friday Rock Show with Tommy Vance.
I know it's not your fault ye missed on all of it but at least ye seem to have decent taste in music so I won't rub it in.
yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel'yemissedyersel' ;D ;D ;D Enjoy yerself on Saturday

I am sooooooo looking forward to this...after all those 'warm up nights' dreadnought, bull, opium - now we get to go to the real thing.
We're being billed on certain websites as the 'premier rock night of the year'!

Bingo wings? Well, whatever they are, they'll be tucked away discretely. You know how shy and demure I am.
Everybody will know me as I will be the wallflower drinking my lemonade and orange juice. I'm having one shandy and that's it. Alcohol seems to diminish my inhibitions. So one shandy it is.

Dear 'couple of things' And why is it you're not letting us know who you are baw jaws? Towers of London, Degrassi and Jesse (who?). Not exactly valid points for keeping open a venue or was it to try and impress? Between all the banter here you can tell the that the Mission has limited appeal...which was my point in the first place! What have I started here...it was only a passing comment! Anyway 'saviour of rock' why not bring along your save the mission form, or save the whale or any thing else that tickles your fancy on Saturday and we'll try and drum up some signatures, you'll only need a piece of paper the size of a postage stamp. See you soon! Milly FMR I see you have resorted to the "if you can't give a reasoned arguement resort to personal insults" type of post, really you aren't funny one little bit.....I can't believe I will now have to reply to one so childish, (deep breath) I mentioned the bands I'd seen recently in the Venue as you had said not much Rock had played there for some time, personally I think Towers Of London were just the kind of band that should play the Venue, they aint big enough to play anywhere else and Bannermans has shit sound and what appears to be no air conditioning, If you haven't heard of Jesse Malin then shame on you. Now onto Billy I don´t like when people hide behind names that means you can´t even guess who they are. They must be pretty old mind you if they were asking for UFO and MSG back in the day ... I didn't originaly post with my name as I didn't think I would be back on over and over again, plus everyone just posts as "guest" now, it could be anyone, I could post as you or Milly for that matter, who would know, so for the record my actual name is Hugh, do you actually know me now? I doubt it. And yes I am pretty old, older than that Milly person for a start (30's! Pah! they were a long time ago for me) It´s funny some punters think as you´re a dj you´ll gave every fuckin´ track by every fuckin´band with ye ... To part answer baw jaws ... and yer self Now here I only mentioned the UFO/MSG incident as you gave the impression that new mish wouldn't have older stuff, I was just pointing out that even your beloved old Mission didn't have older stuff (and btw it was Ian on the Trad. Metal floor), also Billy stick to the brilliant sarcasm that I have witnessed on several of your posts rather than stooping to the piss poor insult level of Milly, your better than that. Anyhoo, I appear to now be in possession of a Maddies ticket, so I shall attempt to squeeze myself into my 1981 MSG "On The Rack" tour t-shirt (yes Milly that was a boast just to impress you!!) and will perhaps see you later. ttfn

Fucking brilliant, old guy. Wipe the floor!!!! It's about time, somebody had the balls to kick the collective arses of those who love to insult others. It gets more than a little boring reading their self-important know-it-all claptrap. I will personally buy you a drink tonight ;D
