Does anybody remember Trixx and Lixx - 2 Edinburgh bands who used to play at The Venue and Preservation Hall around about 1988/89. Just wondered whatever happened to them!

well I only have knowledge re: Lixx - they mutated into an altogether heavier outfit called Sons of the Shaking Earth - I joined them as lead vocalist about 1991 ,Joe Doll went back to being a very talented Graphic Artist. The others got married etc - Steve Athwal Lixx drummer played on with the Sons for another three years. He's now married and teaching. The Sons had a good shot at Rock Stardom but the times of 92-96+ were very hard for the UK Rock scene - and despite many radio plays/interviews (Radio 1,Total Rock FM,Radio Clyde etc) and on American and French College Radio plus regular Rock Magazine interest, headlinegigs at reasonable levels in Scotland (Venue/Liquid Rooms/Cathouse etc and London etc and professionally recording nearly 30 songs in various studios, pressure from Nazz's wife (kids/marriage) caused the downfall of the band right on the verge of major record interest and a lucrative deal - just as the calls were coming from labels at last - we fell - same ol' story ... I have a working title for a song and the chorus is: "WOMEN JUST FUCK YOU UP! " x 4 ... and never a truer word was said. If only they didn't look so damn good!!!!!

did one of these bands no have a singer called wes (or wez)? a rather scary looking chap with a curly pop wig and a face more suited to a circus hall of mirrors than the "glambo" make up he used to wear . (i could be mixing them up with another late 80's edinburgh band - who knows - memory is hazy at best). If so he was last heard of living in walthamstow.

Yes! You're correct. Trixx.....Wes,Russell,Terry Lee & Joey B! Demo was called 'Low Life' Remember them now? Er...no I'm not an ex-member of Trixx, I was in another band! AH...those were the days at the Venue....bands playing/fighting/bitching.....but it was all in good fun. Think we were a bit jealous 'cos they had better gear than us! AND they had a roadie and a sound engineer! Anon

Did Trixx not change their name to Trixx Federation and move to london to "make it big"? I used to see Terry once or twice a year, as he used to pop into the Bull when he was up in Edinburgh, but haven't seen him for a few years now. Also is Joe Doll not also married and have at least two children these days?, I think Mr Swan has his email address somewhere... And as for Debutante, I dont actually remember them, but did they not feature a certain Mr Mansel Storme? If so he was in the Bull last Thursday, so and very probably with a bit of would be about right.

Trixx Federation was the name of the 'fan club' not the band! Yes... Mansel was in Debutante, along with someone from FMR who will not be named.
Hope this is not a return of KERRANG'S 'BLACKMAIL CORNER'......anyone remember that?

Actually they did change the name to Trixx Federation in an attempt to distance themselves from the likes of Lixx, Kix, Sinfull Kixx et al.
I still have the 12" somewhere. Dreadful stuff and this coming from a man who thought Pretty Boy Floyd were the second coming.
The Lixx EP was far superior and I'm not just saying that because Jo still owes me a few copies of Derriere..
