Ah .. back into the memory banks i go ... i was seeing a leggy girl circa 1988/89 (one of the few ladies i've ... eh .. come across i could fuck standing up) why are there so few tall chicks? Anyway, her friend was seeing Joey - i think he was the bass player? I remember one of the B-Sides on the Long Way Home 12" was pretty good. Was the sleeve not a picture taken in a bar next to The Caledonian Hotel - forget the name ... Lixx and Trixx were ok at the time weren't they? i was never a big Glammy fan mind you ... Anyone remember The Bulletboys at The Venue - what a great gig that was, really showed the local guys what it was all about, just my opinion mind ...

L'Attache is it's name, walked past it the other day, seems to be shut, David Bowie once had a drink there for some odd reason, perhaps he saw the Trixx 12" single cover and thought "That looks good, I must go there" before adding "where's my sausages....ziggy" or something.
I think I need a drink.

Ha! Found this thread and almost weed myself.
I well remember Trixx as I was in a band called CRY at the time and, although we had nothing in common with them apart from volume, we ended up doing a couple of shows together cos our Jan, our singer, had a mate, Julie (I think) who was going out with Wes the singer.
I remember going up to the Trixx rehearsal room at the Inch with Jan to discuss a couple of arrangements and recall two things about that day very clearly – firstly, none of them would speak to me – if I spoke, they would direct their answer to Jan. Also, I remember many, many full length mirrors placed strategically around their rehearsal room so they could see themselves pouting and posturing when they played. Mind you, maybe it was cos I found it hard to conceal my mirth that they were blanking me…
Wes always used to wear these leather trouser things that had big gaps down the outside, held together by leather twine – Jan told me he’d disclosed to her that he never used to wear pants with them and they made him feel like God. Ahem. There again, maybe God doesn’t suffer from skidmarks.
The incident that brought our fertile artistic relationship to an end though was a reasonably big gig we did in Kinghorn in Fife where we’d basically done all the legwork, promoting and hiring of gear and they were trusted with supplying backline, transport for folk from Edinburgh and not breaking anything. It took them about an hour to get all their slap on (wecouldn’t breathe in the dressing room afterwards due to the build up of CFCs from the hairspray) and when they went on stage they got about three songs in and the daftie who was working the lighting desk did everything he was told not to with the rig and he blew the whole thing – leaving them standing there in the dark (but obviously, still looking good…).
They had to do the rest of the set under the glare of four 60 watt coloured bulbs we found somewhere and they took a big strop afterwards, taking all their gear and hangers on away so we didn’t have quite the all round top night or audience we’d anticipated. Mind you, we couldn’t see them anyway as we only had four lightbulbs to work with!
To be fair though, they were good entertainment and they did have a couple of good songs, one of them I still remember – ‘Into the night’ I think it was called, and their drummer Russell, did seem to be a pretty decent guy. He eventually got it together with Jan, our singer, and last time I saw her they were staying in the flats in Guthrie Street, the ones that blew up in the early 90s (they weren’t in them at the time though…). No idea what ever came of them – which is a shame cos I still keep in touch with the other guys from CRY.
I did hear through a reliable source that Russell managed to blag his way into Waysted for part of an American tour they were doing the early 90s.
Also, I remember Terry’s girlfriend was particularly scary, though his guitar was nice. (White Gibson late 80’s Explorer with an awfly thick neck).
Ah, those were the days…

Ha - that's a good story, i have quite a similar one even better tho' IMO - a band i went to see at a local gig had similar delusions of granduer, it wasn't a big gig or anything but they INSISTED on all the lights in the venue (even the lights at the bar)to be turned off for their grand entrance - basically the lead guitarist planned to run from behind the Marshall stack onto a trampet over the amps and on his landing hit the first power chord - lights would then come on and away they go ... all went well apart from as he sailed beautifully over the amps his lead came out the amp head and his unamplified strum under the full glare of the lights brought the packed house down ... everyone rolling about laughing ... beers spilt, tears running down cheeks ... ah rock'n' roll - ye cannae beat it!

Ace bands, I have the Lixx album on vinyl and tour shirt from the Venue in Edinburgh, sadly no longer there. I also have a demo tape from a Trixx gig at the same place.
Good times. ;D
